Dibrugarh: The foundation stone for the new building of Namrup Police Station in Assam’s Dibrugarh district was laid by Naharkatia LAC MLA Taranga Gogoi in the presence of Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Abhijit Gurav Dilip.
The new police station will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.56 crore under the Mission for Overall Improvement of Thana for Responsive Image (MOITRI) Scheme of the Assam Government.
The scheme aims to upgrade police infrastructure across the state to ensure improved public service delivery and promote a more citizen-friendly policing system.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Taranga Gogoi noted the state governmentโs commitment to modernising police stations and strengthening law enforcement infrastructure.
She stated that the new building would provide enhanced facilities for police personnel as well as the public, fostering a more efficient, transparent, and responsive work environment.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Abhijit Gurav Dilip said the upgraded infrastructure would significantly improve operational efficiency and enable the police to serve residents more effectively.
He added that the MOITRI scheme reflects the governmentโs vision of strengthening trust between the police and the community by improving facilities and accessibility.
The upcoming building is expected to feature modern amenities, improved workspace arrangements, and dedicated public interface areas. Upon completion, it is anticipated to bolster policing capabilities in Namrup and surrounding areas of Dibrugarh district.
Local residents and officials present at the event welcomed the initiative and expressed hope that the new infrastructure would contribute to enhanced public safety and smoother grievance redressal mechanisms in the region.
