Body of a 27-day-old infant was recovered under mysterious circumstances at Chawalkhowa, 10-km from Dibrugarh town on Friday.
According to the parents, the baby girl was sleeping with her mother but went missing in the morning.

The body of the infant was later recovered from a nearby septic tank.
“Around 2 am I went to the washroom. Then I saw my daughter sleeping with her mother. Around 4.30 am I woke up again and found that my daughter was missing from the bed,” said Sajidul Ali- the infant’s father.
“We immediately informed the other family members and launched a search operation. We found that the main door was open,” he added.

“We could sense something terrible had happened and started searching for our daughter and later recovered her body from an uncovered septic tank near our house,” Ali added.
The police have lodged a complaint and investigating the incident.
The police also questioned the infant’s father, his elder brother and father.
The body of the infant has been sent for post-mortem and the report is awaited.
