The newborn leopard cub at Mahabir Tea Estate

Dibrugarh: A newborn leopard cub was spotted at the Mahabir Tea Estate in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Friday, prompting the estate authorities to alert the Forest Department.

According to eyewitnesses, the cub was found lying under the scorching sun, apparently struggling in the extreme heat. It is suspected to have been separated from its mother, though this has not been officially confirmed.

The tea estate management informed the Forest Department soon after receiving information about the sighting.

A rescue team is expected to reach the estate to assess the situation and take appropriate measures for the cub’s rescue and care.

Meanwhile, local residents have been advised not to approach the cub or gather near the site, as the mother leopard may be in the vicinity.
