Bajali: An Assam Police personnel allegedly attempted suicide using his service weapon inside the district jail premises in Baksa.

The injured has been identified as Gunjit Baishya, a resident of Baghmara in Bajali and a member of the 24th IR Battalion. He reportedly sustained a bullet injury to his chest and was immediately rushed to Guwahati for advanced medical treatment.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred inside the jail campus, raising concerns over security protocols and the mental well-being of personnel on duty.

Family members, speaking to the media, stated that there were no known disputes or personal issues that could have led to such an extreme step. They also said they are unaware of the reasons behind the incident.
