Guwahati: Lurinjyoti Gogoi, president of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), submitted his nomination to contest from the Khowang seat in Dibrugarh district on March 20 for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.

After defeats in the 2021 Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he is back in the race as the party aims to enter the Assembly.

In these elections scheduled for April 9, AJP is working together with several opposition parties such as the Indian National Congress, Raijor Dal, and CPI(M), among others.

Following the completion of the process, he said he is confident and added that he wants to raise issues concerning both local residents and people across the state.
