The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to add an additional AC three-tier compartment in the Rajya Rani Express from December 8, 2019.

The Rajya Rani Express (15417/15418), which runs (Tri-Weekly) in the Alipurduar Junction-Dhubri-Silghat Town route has recently been upgraded under โ€œProject Utkrishtโ€ and has emerged as the first Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) train.

The passengers, however, are demanding since long to extend its service strength on a daily basis instead of present tri-weekly which is yet to be fulfilled.

โ€œThis is the lone express train since 2012 which links Dhubri with Guwahati and other parts of the Assam as well as to the West Bengalโ€™s Coochbehar and new Alipurdwar town,โ€ said B Bajaj, member, Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee, NFR (Alipurdwar Junction).

โ€œAfter augment of this additional compartment, the passengers will be much more benefited,โ€ Bajaj added.

โ€œInitially it will be on trial run for three months but depending upon the utilization the service will be extended for a further period,โ€ Bajaj said.
