A student of R.D. Senior Secondary School, Bishu also secured 97.21 percentile in JEE (Main) 2026 and finished 15th in the Assam Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) 2026.

Digboi: Bishu Limbu, a resident of a remote forest village in Assam’s Tinsukia district, has secured 610 marks out of 720 in NEET-UG 2026, scoring 99.63 percentile and securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 7,320.

A resident of Rajnagar under Powai Forest Village in the Margherita Assembly Constituency, Bishu achieved the result despite challenges related to limited road connectivity, mobile network issues and financial difficulties.

A student of R.D. Senior Secondary School, Bishu also secured 97.21 percentile in JEE (Main) 2026 and finished 15th in the Assam Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) 2026.

According to his teachers, Bishu maintained a disciplined study routine during his preparation. They said he often stayed back at his rented accommodation during vacations to focus on his studies.

The All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), Tinsukia District Committee, helped Bishu secure admission to R.D. Senior Secondary School, where he received a two-year merit scholarship in 2024.

The scholarship helped him continue his higher secondary education despite financial constraints, according to the organisation.

While felicitating Bishu at his residence, Gorkha activist Khem Bahadur Chetry said Bishu secured the highest NEET score among successful candidates from R.D. Senior Secondary School so far.

The Tinsukia District Committee of AAGSU also congratulated Bishu and expressed hope that he would pursue his goal of becoming a doctor.

Meanwhile, other students from the Digboi region also performed well in NEET-UG 2026.

Arshpreet Kaur of Janata Road, Chariali Bazar, Digboi, qualified the examination with 501 marks and secured an AIR of 89,254. She prepared through self-study without attending private coaching, according to information shared about her achievement.

Acharya Mohan Kumar Chetri of Punyajan village under Philobari Amguri, near Digboi, also qualified NEET-UG 2026 with 509 marks.

The results saw several students from the Digboi-Margherita region qualify for the medical entrance examination, including candidates from both rural and urban backgrounds.
