Assam has registered 1,184 new COVID19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the stateโ€™s overall tally to 1,88,902.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the stateโ€™s COVID19 status on Tuesday said the new cases have been detected out of 31,780 tests.

โ€œAlert ~ 1184 #COVID cases detected out of 31780 tests today,โ€ health minister Sarma tweeted.

Assamโ€™s positivity rate on the day was 3.73%, Sarma informed.

Of the new cases, the Kamrup Metro district reported 270 cases while Jorhat district reported 103 cases.

A total of 1,53,488 patients have been so far discharged after their recovery.

Assam currently has 34,633 active COVID19 cases.

On Tuesday, 18 more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam, taking the stateโ€™s death toll to 778.

Health minister Sarma in an earlier tweet said: โ€œVery sad and anguished to inform that 18 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease.โ€
