The Assam government on Monday released 4.7 lakh surgical masks for frontline staff to ensure that they remain safe while screening suspected coronavirus patients.
With the number of the confirmed coronavirus cases are on the rise in India, frontline workers are the ones who have been selflessly and sincerely carrying out their duties even when they are in higher risk of contracting the deadly disease.

“Happy to release 4.7 lakh surgical masks for our frontline staff today to ensure their safety during screening of suspected #COVID patients. As the supply situation improves, we shall be able to deliver more,” Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a tweet.
Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER ) Jitendra Singh on Sunday announced that cargo flights will be used exclusively for transporting medical equipment and emergency goods, besides other essential items to northeastern states in the wake of lockdown situation.
Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always placed the welfare of the North Eastern Region highest on the priority.

He also said that the decision to operate cargo flights for northeast is only a reiteration of the fact that the concern for northeast is close to Modi’s heart even at this crucial time.
