The 51st DG-level talks between the Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) began in Guwahati on Tuesday.

โ€œIt is for the first time that the bi-annual Director General (DG) level talks between the two border guarding forces is taking place in Assam,โ€ the BSF said in a press communique.

The delegation of Border Guard Bangladesh is being led by the Director-General of BGB, Maj Gen Shafeenul Islam.

The Border Security Force (BSF) delegation of India is headed by the Director-General of BSF, Rakesh Asthana.

โ€œThey will discuss various aspects and issues related to border management,โ€ the communique said.

They will also deliberate upon steps being taken to strengthen the security grid in a cohesive manner for the betterment of people living on the borders of both the neighbouring countries, it added.

The meeting will conclude with the signing of a joint record of discussions by both the Directors General of the BSF and the BGB.
