Nagaland Police has arrested a 29-year-old man from upper Assam’s Golaghat district for stealing Rs 40 lakh from an office in Dimapur.
Police said Mintu Tanti, a resident of Dhodhang village under Kamargaon Police station in Golaghat district, broke into a private office in Kalibari road, Dimapur and escaped with Rs 40 lakh.

Following his arrest, a major part of the stolen cash amounting to Rs 28, 16000 was subsequently recovered from Thuramukh village, Dimapur police said.
The preliminary investigation revealed that arrested Tanti was planning to construct a building with the stolen cash but the plan had to be postponed due to the Covid-induced lockdown.
During the initial investigation, a private security guard (employed by the private office) identified as Semson Ronghang was also arrested for deliberately facilitating the crime.

A case has already been registered in the Sub-Urban Police station in Dimapur.
