โ€œFor reasons best known to the present BJP-led government of Assam, such conflicts have not only been on the rise, but have also taken a much more aggressive turn,โ€ Vincent Pala stated in his letter to the Prime Minister.

โ€œโ€ฆaggressive posturing at inter-state borders is perilous to healthy neighbourly relations,โ€ Vincent Pala added.

The Shillong MP urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and resolve the border disputes between the states.

โ€œI sincerely urge you to address this issue at the earliest,โ€ Pala said in his letter to PM Modi.

He also said that the recent clashes along the Assam-Mizoram border has once again highlighted the vulnerability of peace and stability of the region.

Vincent Pala added that barring Tripura and Manipur, all other Northeast states have decades-long border disputes with Assam.
