Imphal: In a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening regional security and enhancing administrative coordination, Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Singh, IPS, conducted an extensive review of policing and security arrangements in Kakching and Chandel districts on Monday.
Accompanied by the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), the DGP held a series of meetings with state police personnel, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), central security agencies, and civil society organizations (CSOs) to assess the prevailing law-and-order situation and ensure a secure environment during the ongoing agricultural season.
At the Kakching District Police Headquarters, DGP Singh reviewed the districtโs preparedness to safeguard vulnerable areas during the farming season. Addressing officers from the district police, CAPFs, and central agencies, he called for sustained and coordinated operations against drug trafficking networks and anti-national elements. He also stressed the need to intensify efforts to recover looted and illegally possessed arms and ammunition, directing that personnel demonstrating exceptional professionalism and commitment in these operations should be appropriately recognized and rewarded.
The DGP commended the Kakching District Policeโs Cycle Patrol initiative, describing it as an effective model of community-oriented beat policing that has strengthened public engagement and enhanced local security. He also interacted with representatives of various civil society organizations, emphasizing the importance of continued police-community cooperation in maintaining peace and public confidence.
Later, at the 8th Manipur Rifles Headquarters in Leikun, DGP Singh chaired a strategic review meeting focusing on the deployment of static guards and the functioning of law-and-order outposts. He urged officers and personnel to uphold the highest standards of discipline and professionalism while encouraging innovative approaches to optimize available resources for improving the welfare of the force.
Continuing his visit to Chandel district, the DGP inaugurated a newly established Cyber Cell and a renovated Conference Hall at the Office of the Superintendent of Police. The new facilities are part of the stateโs broader efforts to modernize policing infrastructure and strengthen institutional capacity to investigate and combat cybercrime.
During his interaction with police personnel, Assam Rifles representatives, and members of civil society organizations in Chandel, DGP Singh underscored the importance of people-centric policing and collaborative security management. He praised the strong coordination among the state police, security forces, and community stakeholders, noting that their collective efforts have played a vital role in preserving peace, stability, and public order in the district.
