Imphal: Joint teams of State and Central security forces arrested nine active cadres linked to different insurgent outfits in a series of intensified operations carried out over the past 24 hours. Among those apprehended were two women members of the outlawed Peopleโs Liberation Army (PLA). Officials said the operations also resulted in the recovery of arms, ammunition, and incriminating documents.
Along the Indo-Myanmar border, security forces acting on specific intelligence inputs intercepted two women cadres near Sunrise Ground/Gate No. 2 in Moreh, Tengnoupal district. They were identified as Akoijam Sakhenbi (23) of Bishnupur district and Chongtham Hembaby (17) of Imphal West district.
Meanwhile, in Thoubal district, two cadres affiliated with the Revolutionary Peopleโs Front, political wing of the People’s Liberation Army were arrested from Pechi Khunou. The individuals were identified as Wairokpam Sanahal Meitei (46) and Mayanglambam Kiran Singh (47), described by officials as a โself-styled Lieutenantโ. Two mobile phones and four SIM cards were seized.
In a separate operation in the Thoubal-PS sector, Khumanthem Santosh Meitei (36), alleged to be associated with the banned Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup, was apprehended. A mobile phone and two SIM cards were recovered from his possession.
In Imphal East district, Irengbam Saratkumar Meetei (21), linked to the Peopleโs Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), was arrested from Nungoi Awang Leikai. A mobile phone was seized.
Additionally, in Imphal West, security forces arrested Khetics Thongbam (19), identified as an activist of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Apunba). A mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were recovered.
Further, in the Heingang-PS sector, Sorokhaibam Ranjit Singh (41), described as an active extortionist associated with PREPAK (Pro), was apprehended from Khabam Lamkhai. Two mobile handsets and an Aadhaar card were seized.
In another operation in Imphal East, Ingudam Ingocha Singh (50), alleged to be a PREPAK (Pro) cadre, was arrested from Napetpalli. Officials said a .32 pistol with five live rounds, ten visiting cards, a Honda Activa scooter, cash, and a mobile phone were recovered.
Officials stated that the arrested individuals were suspected to be involved in extortion-related activities. The operations, they added, were part of an intensified crackdown across the valley districts.
