Troopers of the Assam Rifles have apprehended a rebel belonging to the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) in Manipur.
The ZUF cadre was arrested from Manipur’s Imphal West district.

The rebel was apprehended in a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police.
“Acting on a tip-off, a combined team of Assam Rifles and Manipur police apprehended the militant from Tarung village,” a statement from the Assam Rifles read.

Meanwhile, the apprehended insurgent has been handed over to the Lamphel police station in Manipur’s Imphal West district.
Further investigation and necessary legal action will be initiated by the police.
