It may be mentioned here that following the single day sharp spike in COVID-19 cases among BSF personnel in Umpling on Thursday, where 38 positive cases were reported, the East Khasi Hills District Magistrate M War Nongbri issued a late-night order declaring the entire Frontier Headquarters BSF Campus at Umpling as a containment zone.

According to the order, unregulated entry/exit movement on the campus site is restricted, apart from preventing any person from either going into or moving out of the BSF campus.

โ€œInhabitants within the BSF campus have been asked to stay indoors and restriction has been put on gatherings, events or functions,โ€ the order stated.

โ€œAll government & private institutions and shopping establishments will have to be shut down with immediate effect,โ€ it added.

โ€œThe East Khasi Hill district administration will arrange for the supply of medicine and other essentials,โ€ the order added.
