Aizawl: Mizoram Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar has invited major event organisers to host tourism and entertainment events in the state, pitching Mizoram as an emerging hub for event tourism in Northeast India.
Hmar made the appeal while attending Imaginarium 2.0 โ North East Events and Entertainment Leaders’ Summit in Guwahati on Saturday, according to an official statement issued on Sunday.
The summit brought together stakeholders from the event, tourism, hospitality and entertainment industries across the Northeast.
Addressing the inaugural session, Hmar said Mizoram had significant untapped tourism potential and stressed the need to convert it into economic growth through event tourism.
“Come and host your events in Mizoram, amid our scenic hills and valleys, pristine rivers and clean environment. We will warmly welcome you,” he said, inviting event management professionals to consider the state as a venue for large-scale events.
The minister said improved connectivity had made Mizoram more accessible, noting that the arrival of the railway had eased travel while expanded air connectivity enabled visitors to reach the state from different parts of the country more conveniently.
Hmar said event tourism could generate economic opportunities for local communities and create employment across multiple sectors, adding that the state government was committed to developing the sector as a key growth area.
During the summit, Mizoram showcased its tourism potential through a video presentation featuring the state’s tourism calendar and government initiatives. The presentation, jointly produced by the Tourism Department and the Information and Public Relations Department, highlighted the state’s attractions and its readiness to host major events, the statement said.
Imaginarium 2.0 concluded on Sunday, with industry leaders discussing strategies to promote event tourism across the Northeastern states, the statement added.
