Dimapur: The All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers Group (ANATG), 2015 batch, has suspended its ongoing agitation while setting June 30 as the deadline for the regularisation of services of 1,166 teachers.

The decision followed a meeting between the Core Committee and general members of the group. During the deliberations, the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) informed the teachers that efforts were under way to review and reconcile essential records, including appointment orders and sanctioned post numbers, which are reportedly missing from departmental files.

After considering a request conveyed by the Directorate through a letter issued on Thursday by Principal Director Shashank Pratap Singh, the Core Committee proposed a temporary suspension of the agitation. Singh acknowledged the grievances and anxiety of the teachers, stating that the matter was being treated with seriousness at the departmental level.

The DoSE said steps were being taken to carefully examine, trace and reconcile relevant documents in coordination with the authorities concerned. It noted that certain key records โ€” such as sanctioned post order numbers, appointment orders and release orders of previous incumbents, are presently untraceable.

The issue has been referred to the competent authority to explore alternative measures and arrive at an appropriate resolution.

However, the ANATG clarified that the suspension of the agitation does not amount to a withdrawal of its demand. The group has set June 30 as the final deadline for completing the regularisation process, warning that failure to meet the timeline would result in the resumption of protests.

Stressing that regularisation is essential for job security and career progression, the teachers said they would continue constructive engagement with the DoSE to fulfil all procedural requirements. Members also expressed confidence in the leadership of the Core Committee and resolved to remain united in pursuit of their common objective.
