Dimapur: Forty-three girl students among 56 meritorious students from indigenous Scheduled Tribes of Nagaland were felicitated by the state Education Department with the Chief Minister’s Meritorious Students Fellowship (CMMSF) Award for their outstanding performance in the HSLC Examination 2026 at a programme held at the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima on Thursday.

The initiative recognises meritorious students through certificates and provides them with financial assistance for five years.

Addressing the programme as the special guest, Adviser to the School Education Department Kekhrielhoulie Yhome said the 56 achievers had distinguished themselves through their hard work and perseverance.

Congratulating the students on their academic achievements, Yhome encouraged them to continue striving for excellence with dedication, perseverance and integrity.

He also urged them to use their knowledge and talents in the service of society and the state.

“Remain humble, remember your roots and contribute positively to society in the future,” he told the students.

Yhome said that 43 of the 56 achievers were girls, reflecting the growing number of female students excelling academically in recent years.

He later presented awards and certificates to the 56 meritorious students.

In his welcome address, Nagaland Board of School Education Chairperson Rangumbuing Nsarangbe said the CMMSF was a testament to the Chief Minister’s commitment towards promoting academic excellence.

He said continuation of the fellowship is subject to one condition — students must secure at least 80% marks in their examinations every year to remain eligible for the grant.
