Dimapur: A total of 22,390 electors will cast their votes in the by-election to the 28 Koridang Assembly constituency (ST) in Mokokchung district, which is scheduled to be held on April 9.

The poll schedule for the by-election was announced on Sunday by the Election Commission of India.

The seat fell vacant following the demise of sitting MLA Imkong L Imchen last year.

According to officials, the final electoral roll for the constituency was published on March 13 after the completion of the Special Summary Revision (SSR) 2026.

Out of the total 22,390 voters, 22,266 are general electors, comprising 11,253 male and 11,013 female voters, while 124 are service electors, including 123 men and one woman.

A total of 30 polling stations have been notified for the by-election in the constituency.

As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the gazette notification for the by-poll will be issued on March 16, while the last date for filing nominations is March 23. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on March 24, and the deadline for withdrawal of candidature has been set for March 26.

The counting of votes will take place on May 4.

Officials said electronic voting machines (EVMs) along with voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) systems will be used at all polling stations to ensure transparency in the voting process.
