Dimapur: Water supply across Kohima town has been disrupted following a breakage in a main pipeline at the Jotsoma Reserve Forest area, officials said on Monday.

According to the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Urban Division, the disruption is likely to continue for the next few days, affecting several parts of the municipal area. Repair work is currently underway to restore normal supply.

In a statement, SDO-I Ahito Awomi said all necessary measures are being taken to expedite repairs and resume water supply at the earliest, while urging residents to bear with the temporary inconvenience.

Meanwhile, the Kohima district administration has imposed temporary night traffic restrictions in parts of the town to facilitate road maintenance work.

In a notification, Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem said traffic movement and roadside parking will be restricted from Razhรผ Point junction to Phoolbari junction via IGAR (North) and D-Block between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. from March 24 to March 26.

North-bound vehicles have been advised to follow the usual NST route, while south-bound traffic will be diverted through the Khuochiezie local ground bypass road.

The district administration has appealed to the public to cooperate during the maintenance period.
