Numaligarh refinery limited

The Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) has signed an agreement with Assam Electricity Grid Corp Ltd (AEGCL) for construction of a facility for sourcing power from the grid.

According to the pact signed between the two firms, NRL will set up a facility for importing 120 MW of power from 220 KV grid of the AEGCL, the company said in a statement.

โ€œThe project includes drawing of 220 KV overhead power transmission lines of approximately 15 km length and setting up of 220 KV sub-station near Numaligarh Refinery,โ€ it added.

The MoU will facilitate uninterrupted power supply for seamless refinery operations, besides meeting the additional power requirement of almost 74 MW for NRLโ€™s upcoming expansion plans.

โ€œWith the development of transmission infrastructure, NRL will be able to purchase stable power instead of setting up captive plants, which is more capital cost intensive,โ€ it added.

The MoU was signed between NRL chief general manager (project) AP Chakraborty and his AEGCL counterpart PK Medhi in Guwahati.
