West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has sent two ministersโ€“Bratya Basu, Moloy Ghatak and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Ritabrata Banerjee to Agartala to secure the release of the detained I-PAC team.

A 22-member team of poll strategist Prashant Kishorโ€™s I-PAC was allegedly put under house arrest in a hotel in Agartala by the Tripura police.

The I-PAC team has been camping in a hotel in Tripuraโ€™s Agartala since last week for political assessment for TMC ahead of 2023 state assembly elections.

The team was allegedly not allowed to go out of their hotel for work.

โ€œOur people have been literally put under house arrest for what reason we donโ€™t know. We are looking into the matter,โ€ I-PAC had said on Monday.

TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had yesterday slammed the BJP government in Tripura.

He said that the BJP is โ€˜rattledโ€ by the Trinamoolโ€™s victory in the Bengal elections, which is why they have kept the I-PAC team under house arrest.

โ€œThe fear in @BJP4Tripura before even @AITCofficial stepped into the land, is more than evident! They are so rattled by our victory in #Bengal that theyโ€™ve now kept 23 IPAC employees under house arrest. Democracy in this nation dies a thousand deaths under BJPโ€™s misrule!โ€ he said.
