Agartala: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday alleged in Tripura that selfish forces were attempting to create divisions within the country and stressed the need to preserve unity amid diversity.
Addressing a religious function at Mohanpur in West Tripura district, Bhagwat said, โAll the selfish powers of the world know that if Bharat Varsha rises, their dominance will be challenged. This is why these powers are trying hard to create internal conflicts in the country.โ
He said Indiaโs diversity in languages, traditions and beliefs should be seen as a strength. โOur linguistic traditions, food habits, traditional beliefs, deities and goddesses have been diverse since time immemorial. This diversity is the celebration of our unity,โ he said, adding that efforts were being made to make people โkeep fighting among ourselves.โ
Calling for awareness, Bhagwat said society must remain conscious of its cultural foundations. โIt is high time to make the whole society aware and conscious of our ancient wisdom and to remind people that despite this diversity, we are united,โ he said.
On linguistic developments, he said the growth in the number of languages over time was natural. โSome dialects of Hindi have developed into full-fledged languages; this is not a matter of concern,โ he said.
He also called for resilience, stating, โWe have to be fearless. We must prepare our society to tread the path of truth and face all circumstances.โ
On education, Bhagwat said knowledge should not be linked solely to economic gain. โKnowledge cannot be equated with earning money,โ he said, adding that education focused only on survival is incomplete. โReal education is to know the unknown within and to see the world through oneself,โ he said.
Referring to traditional institutions, Bhagwat said temples historically served as centres of trade, social life and education, and contributed to community welfare. He also noted the role of certain religious organisations in social service.
On philosophical aspects, he said, โEverything is interconnectedโฆ consciousness is not local but universal,โ adding that science continues to explore such ideas.
Bhagwat also underlined the need to balance strength with devotion. โShakti without Bhakti can lead to disorder. Strength must be accompanied by devotion,โ he said.
The RSS chief was in Tripura to attend the inauguration of the Devi Chinmayi Soundarya Temple at Mohanpur.
The programme, organised by Chinmaya Seva Trust Agartala, coincided with Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti. Priests from Nepal conducted the rituals, including the Prana Pratishtha and Kumbha Abhishekam ceremonies.
