Everything is not good for Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb as a rift within the party has come out in open and nine MLAs of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are camping in New Delhi to meet the central leadership and โ€˜lodge a complaint against Deb seeking his removalโ€™.

Among the group of MLAs include Sudip Roy Barman, Asish Saha, Sushanta Choudhury, Ramprasad Pal and Diba Chandra Hrankhawl.

In the 60-member Tripura Assembly, BJP has a total of 36 MLAs and its ally IPFT has 8 MLAs.

Speaking to the media the MLAs said that the 12 legislators, who are camping in Delhi, are unhappy with the Chief Minister and they want a change in leadership.

โ€œWe are hopeful of meeting the BJP national president JP Nadda and other senior organisational leaders,โ€ said Sushanta Choudhury.

โ€œWe will discuss the current situation in the state. We would also try and meet the Prime Minister and apprise him of the situations,โ€ he added.

Without mentioning the specifics, Choudhury further said, โ€œNeither the government nor the party is moving in the way it should have.โ€

โ€œWe are far from fulfilling the pre-poll promises that were mentioned in the partyโ€™s Vision Document,โ€ he added.

โ€œOur main aim is to highlight these and several other things going wrong in Tripura to our central leaders,โ€ he added.

Choudhury, however, did not mention directly if they are seeking a leadership change in Tripura and want Biplab Deb to be removed as the CM.

โ€œWe shall highlight the developments in Tripura and the rest of the decisions will be taken by the central leadership,โ€ he further added.
