Binita Santal, a resident of Belchara village in Khowai district of Tripura, has been booked by the police for throwing acid on her boyfriend Soumen Santal.
As per reports, the incident took place on October 19 and a case against Binita was lodged on Tuesday after the victim’s brother filed an FIR against her.

“Both Binita and Soumen used to work outside the state and they returned to their homes in September this year,” police sources informed.
“After coming back, there was not much connection between the two lovers and Binita felt she was ignored by Soumen and this had hurt her a lot,” the police added.
“The two met on October 19 after several weeks. However, they soon got into a quarrel and out of rage Binita threw acid on Soumen’s face, injuring him severely,” the police further informed.

“We are yet to confirm as to how she got hold of the acid,” the police said.
The victim is being treated at GBP Hospital.
