A video of a sex act in a United Nationโs vehicle, which has gone viral on social media, has shocked chief of UN.
The UN in a statement said that it was โshocked and deeply disturbedโ by the footage of the alleged sex act in one of its official cars in Israel.
โWe are shocked and deeply disturbed by what is seen on this video,โ BBC quoted Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, as saying.
In the 18-second video, a woman in a red dress is seen straddling a man in the back seat of clearly marked white UN vehicle.
Another man appears to be asleep in the passenger seat. The clip was shared widely on social media on Friday.
Describing the behaviour seen in the 18-second video as โabhorrentโ, he said an investigation led by the UNโs Office of Internal Oversight Services was โmoving very quicklyโ.
That kind of behaviour โgoes against everything we stand for and having been working to achieve in terms of fighting misconduct by UN staffโ, Dujarric said.
The UN has strict policies against sexual misconduct by its staff members.
Dujarric said the identification of the individuals seen in the video was โclose to being completedโ.
โWe expect the process to be concluded very quickly and intend to promptly take the appropriate action,โ he said.
In 2019, there were 175 allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse against UN staff members, a report said.
