At the event, he was warmly welcomed by Tripura Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha, former minister and MLA Sudip Roy Barman and Congressโ€™s Tripura in-charge Girish Chodankar.

Expressing his delight, Biswas shared during a press conference, โ€œToday marks the happiest day for me as I return to the Congress fold.โ€

He voiced criticism over the perceived neglect of Northeast states by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and highlighted Rahul Gandhiโ€™s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which commenced in the Northeast.

He claimed that democracy and the Constitution have been โ€˜underminedโ€™, and warned that if this trend persists, the judiciary will also suffer the same fate.

โ€œIn rallying under Rahul Gandhiโ€™s leadership, we can defeat Narendra Modi. I urge everyone to join Rahul Gandhi in this endeavor,โ€ Biswas emphasized.

A senior advocate at the Tripura high court, Biswas assumed the role of TMC state chief prior to the assembly polls in February 2023.

However, following the party’s disappointing performance in the polls, he tendered his resignation from the TMC in July 2023.
