Dimapur: Nagaland on Tuesday launched the self-enumeration phase of Census 2027, joining the nationwide exercise that allows citizens to enumerate their households online from June 16 to June 30.

Participating in the launch at Lok Bhavan in Kohima, Governor Nand Kishore Yadav urged residents to actively take part in the exercise, which is being conducted under the theme โ€œMy Census, My Developmentโ€.

Yadav said Census 2027 is being conducted in a fully digital mode and that, for the first time, citizens can complete household enumeration online during the self-enumeration period.

He said the census would provide key data for development planning and help guide policy decisions in sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare.

The Governor also acknowledged the role of more than 6,100 census officials deployed across the state and urged them to discharge their duties with sincerity and professionalism.

Appealing for cooperation, Yadav called on tribal hohos, community organisations, village councils, colony authorities and elders to support the exercise and help ensure comprehensive coverage.

He urged citizens to participate in the self-enumeration process and cooperate with census officials to ensure that every household and individual is counted.
