Bajali: Residents of Pathsala in Assam’s Bajali district have demanded the construction of a railway overbridge near Pathsala Railway Station, citing frequent traffic congestion and delays caused by the level crossing.

The road passing through the railway crossing connects several localities, including Titka, Dubi, Gunori, Jalikhata, Bargandubi and Sarthebari. Residents said closure of the railway gate for passing trains often results in long traffic queues and disrupts daily movement.

Students, office-goers and emergency vehicles are among those affected by the delays. During examination periods, students reportedly face difficulties reaching their examination centres on time.

Residents said the route serves as an important link for several villages and towns and urged the Railway Department and the government to take steps to construct a railway overbridge.

They said the proposed overbridge would help ease traffic congestion and improve the movement of vehicles and pedestrians in the area.
