Dimapur: Nagaland’s Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DHFW), through the Drugs Control Administration, on Tuesday launched the Narcotic and Psychotropic Online Monitoring and Auditing System (NPOMAS) to strengthen the monitoring and management of narcotic and psychotropic substances.
The digital platform was launched during the valedictory programme of a month-long induction training for newly recruited drugs control officers at the Drugs Control Administration conference hall in Kohima.
According to the department, NPOMAS enables real-time stock monitoring, digital record maintenance and improved oversight of prescription details and drug distribution. It will provide authorised departmental officers with centralised access to facilitate monitoring and enforcement.
The department said the platform is expected to improve transparency, accountability and regulatory efficiency in the management of narcotic and psychotropic substances. It is also expected to strengthen coordination among enforcement agencies and support evidence-based decision-making through timely and accurate data.
Addressing the programme, Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare Mereninla Senlem said the induction training had been designed to equip newly recruited drugs control officers with the knowledge, skills and professional values required for effective regulatory enforcement and public service.
She said the training covered the technical, legal, ethical and administrative aspects of drug regulation and aimed to prepare officers for field responsibilities by bridging the gap between academic learning and practical enforcement.
