Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday inaugurated the first State-Level Digital Governance, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber Security and Skilling Workshop at the Civil Secretariat in Mantripukhri, reaffirming the state’s commitment to building a digitally empowered and future-ready Manipur.
The workshop was organised by the Department of Information Technology, Government of Manipur, in collaboration with Microsoft India.
Addressing the gathering, Khemchand Singh said the partnership with Microsoft reflects the government’s vision of leveraging technology to transform governance, expand opportunities for young people, and improve public service delivery.
He said the state aims to develop a secure, inclusive and citizen-centric digital ecosystem, with a strong focus on equipping youth, government officials and entrepreneurs with skills in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
According to the Chief Minister, strengthening digital capabilities will create employment opportunities, encourage innovation and promote entrepreneurship across sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, tourism and digital services.
Emphasising the importance of public trust in digital transformation, Khemchand Singh said the government remains committed to protecting citizens’ privacy while adopting emerging technologies.
He called on government departments, industry partners and other stakeholders to work together to build an innovative, resilient and digitally empowered Manipur.
The inaugural session was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary, administrative secretaries, senior officials of the Information Technology Department, and representatives and resource persons from Microsoft India, among others.
