Baksa DC office assistant James Kerketta receives the District-Level Lok Sewa Award 2026 for exemplary public service on Lok Kalyan Divas.

Guwahati: Senior District Administrative Assistant James Kerketta of the District Commissioner’s Office in Baksa has been conferred the District-Level Lok Sewa Award 2026 by the Government of Assam in recognition of his outstanding contribution to public service.

The award was presented during the Lok Kalyan Divas programme held at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office in Mushalpur on Wednesday (August 5).

The event was organised to mark the 76th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi, Assam’s first Chief Minister, and to honour his enduring legacy of public service and good governance.

District Commissioner Kimnei Changsan, IAS, Senior Superintendent of Police Ujjal Pratim Baruah, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, Heads of Departments and other district officials paid floral tributes to Bordoloi before attending a commemorative meeting highlighting his life and contributions.

Speaking on the occasion, Changsan said Lok Kalyan Divas reinforces the commitment of the administration to deliver transparent, accountable and citizen-centric governance. She emphasised that government officials must ensure the effective delivery of public services, address grievances promptly, extend support to vulnerable sections of society and strengthen public confidence in the administration.

She also called upon officers and staff to uphold the ideals of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi by serving the people with dedication, integrity and selflessness.

Kerketta was recognised for his exemplary service under the Government of Assam’s Lok Sewa Award 2026 and Karmashree Award 2026 initiative, which honours state government employees for excellence and commitment in public service.

The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners, Circle Officers, Assistant Commissioners and officials from various departments of the Baksa district administration.
