Guwahati: Borluit Productions on Sunday launched the promotional campaign for its debut Assamese feature film Dipholu, beginning with a tribute to singers Zubeen Garg and Gayatri Hazarika.
The event marked the first public engagement ahead of the filmโs theatrical release on August 21, 2026.
Film industry members, music enthusiasts, media representatives and fans attended the programme, which showcased the musical legacy of the two late singers.

As part of the launch, the team released Xorogi Xopun, a romantic duet featuring voices of Zubeen Garg and Gayatri Hazarika. The makers described it as one of their final recorded works, carrying strong emotional significance in the film.
Director Nekib said the campaign was deliberately launched with a tribute instead of a conventional song release.
โThe presence of Zubeen Daโs voice is a blessing for us. Along with that, we could record Gayatri Baโs melodious voice. This is more of an emotional experience than a commercial song. It takes the film to another emotional level, so we began the journey with a tribute,โ he said.
He added that working with the two singers was a memorable experience.

โWatching Zubeen Da record a song was magical, like an international live concert. Gayatri Ba was cheerful and sincere. We miss them deeply, and they will remain in our hearts,โ he said.
According to the makers, Xorogi Xopun plays a key narrative role in Dipholu, blending themes of love, humour, responsibility and social consciousness.
The film also features voices of Rupali Kashyap, Rakesh Reeyan and Montumoni Saikia. Lyrics are by Nekib, with music composed by Jekiv. Gargee Bhattacharjee is also a lyricist.
Members of the band Jontro, associated with Zubeen Garg, attended the event and paid tribute to the singers.
Nekib said their presence added emotional depth to the launch.
โZubeen Da is the heartbeat of Assam, and Jontro carries that legacy forward. Their presence made the event complete,โ he said.
Produced by Jekiv and directed by Nekib, Dipholu marks Borluit Productionsโ entry into feature films after short films such as Rong โ The Colour and Akaax Bisari โ Into the Sky. The film is based on rural Assamese life, blending humour, emotion and social themes.

The cast includes Amrita Gogoi, Subrat Deori, Arun Nath, Arun Hazarika, Purnada Hazarika, Rajib Dowari, Jyotishman Borah, Kanika Nath, Anirban Kalita, Ankur Baidya, Hitesh Baruah, Simashree Bora, Priyanshi Kashyap and Dibya Jyoti Borah, with Mridula Barua in a special appearance.
The makers said the campaign begins as a tribute to the two singers whose voices remain part of Assamโs musical legacy.
