Guwahati: A Delhi court on Saturday, August 29, 2026, took cognisance of the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) 7,500-page chargesheet against 13 accused in the Red Fort blast case.
The case relates to a high-intensity vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) blast near the Red Fort on November 10 last year. The explosion killed 11 people and left several others injured.
Special Judge Prashant Sharma took cognisance of the chargesheet and scheduled the matter for further proceedings on September 9.
The NIA had initially filed its chargesheet on May 14 against 10 accused, including the alleged main accused, Dr Umer Un Nabi, who was killed.
According to the agency’s chargesheet, all 10 accused were linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), described as an offshoot of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
The NIA subsequently filed a supplementary chargesheet in June against three additional accused, taking the total number of persons charge-sheeted in the case to 13.
Among those named in the supplementary chargesheet was an absconding paediatrician who was allegedly a founding member of a terror module and was accused of involvement in the blast.
The court’s cognisance of the chargesheet marks the next stage in the proceedings, with further hearings scheduled for September 9.
