Chinese consul general Ma Jhanwu said his country sees Calcutta as the future hub for industries and education. โAfter President Xi and PM Modi met in Wuhan, the two governments are translating into reality the consensus reached on bilateral, regional and global issues,โ Ma Jhanwu told a press conference in Calcutta.
He said more than 60 Chinese universities are joining an expo in Calcutta on 10-11 May. โThis is the only city where Chinese universities are coming in such large numbers. It will be no different with industrial investments,โ said the Chinese consul general.

He said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerji will soon visit China. โDetails of the trip are being worked out,โ he said. Ma Jhanwu said there will be much industrial investments by Chinese companies on the BCIM corridor in keeping with the โWuhan spiritโ.
โThat means a lot of these projects will come up in eastern India and on neighbouring countries like Bangladesh and Myanmar.โ
Ma Jhanwu said the Wuhan spirit encompasses cooperation on bilateral, regional and global issues on which President Xi and PM Modi has reached consensus. โCollaboration in education is one of the issue on which consensus has been reached,โ he said.
