Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh has achieved full household coverage in electricity connections and functional tap-water supply, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said on Saturday, highlighting the expansion of essential services across the state over the past decade.

Reviewing the stateโ€™s development since 2016, Khandu said the number of households with electricity connections has increased from around 1.48 lakh in 2016 to approximately 3.02 lakh in 2026. Household electrification, which stood at about 49 per cent a decade ago, has now reached 100 per cent, according to figures shared by the chief minister.

The state has also recorded substantial progress in access to piped drinking water. In 2016, only 22,796 households had functional tap connections, covering around 9.9 per cent of households.

By 2026, the number had risen to 2,28,566 households, which Khandu said amounted to complete coverage and represented a 903 per cent increase over the decade.

Khandu described electricity and access to drinking water as key measures of grassroots development, saying the figures reflected the expansion of basic amenities across Arunachal Pradesh.

He reiterated his governmentโ€™s focus on ensuring that development initiatives deliver direct and measurable benefits to households, particularly in remote and difficult-to-reach areas of the state.

The achievement comes as Arunachal Pradesh continues to expand its infrastructure and essential services across its geographically challenging terrain.
