The decision was among a series of initiatives announced by the organisation to document, preserve and promote Garg's creative contributions

Guwahati: The Asam Sahitya Sabha has announced that the songs written and composed by singer Zubeen Garg will collectively be recognised as “Zubeen Sangeet”, giving a distinct identity to his body of musical work.

The decision was among a series of initiatives announced by the organisation to document, preserve and promote Garg’s creative contributions.

The organisation said it will publish an analytical book on Garg’s music, featuring a compilation of his songs along with critical studies of their themes, style and cultural significance.

The Sabha also announced plans to translate Garg’s songs into southern Indian languages, including Tamil and Telugu, to expand their reach among audiences across the country.

In another initiative, the organisation said 34 plays staged during one of its acting workshops would be compiled into two volumes and published in book form within six months.
