Bajali: Major Rupam Das, a native of Dubi Kathokuchi village in Assamโ€™s Bajali district, has been awarded the Sena Medal (Gallantry) for his bravery during military operations in Manipur.

According to the Ministry of Defence, President Droupadi Murmu approved 78 Gallantry Awards, including 13 posthumous awards, for personnel of the Defence Forces and Central Armed Police Forces on the eve of Independence Day 2026.

The list of awardees includes IC-83402N Major Rupam Das of 8 Bihar, who has been awarded the Sena Medal (Gallantry).

Major Das is currently serving in the Indian Army and is posted in Manipur.

His recognition for gallantry during operations in the region has brought recognition to his native village and Bajali district.

The award is a matter of pride for Assam, particularly for the people of Bajali, and is expected to inspire young people who aspire to serve the country.
