Guwahati: The Assam government has carried out a major reshuffle in the state police administration, transferring and promoting several IPS and APS officers to key positions across the state.
According to a notification issued by the Home and Political Department on Friday, Ratna Singha, IPS, has been allowed to officiate as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Special Branch, while Bijoy Giri Kuligam, IPS, has been allowed to officiate as IGP, BTAD, Kokrajhar.
Kangkan Jyoti Saikia, IPS, has been transferred and posted as IGP, Eastern Range, Jorhat, while Prasama Sagar Changmai, IPS, has been posted as IGP, Fire and Emergency Services, Assam.
At the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) level, Dr Robin Kumar, IPS, has been allowed to officiate as DIG, MPC, Assam, while continuing as DIG, AP.
Gautam Borah, IPS, has been allowed to officiate as DIG, Border, while Amrit Bhuyan, IPS, has been posted as DIG, Special Branch. Sudhakar Singh, IPS, will serve as DIG, North Eastern Range, Tinsukia, while Ranjan Bhuyan, IPS, has been posted as DIG, Security.
Pranabjyoti Goswami, IPS, has been appointed DIG, Administration, and Rajen Singh, IPS, as DIG, Central Range/Hills Range. Y.T. Gyatso, IPS, has been transferred and posted as DIG, Western Range.
The reshuffle also brings changes to district police leadership.
Partha Protim Das, IPS, has been transferred and posted as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Cachar, while Veera Venkata Rakesh Reddy, IPS, has been posted as SSP, Nagaon.
Among APS officers, Sarmistha Barua has been appointed SSP, Darrang; Ashif Ahmed as SSP, Biswanath; Nirupam Hazarika as SSP, Hojai; and Prakash Sonowal as SSP, Dhemaji. Nishant Saurabh, IPS, has been posted as SSP, Morigaon.
Mohan Lal Meena, IPS, has been appointed Director of the Directorate of Forensic Science. Swapnaneel Deka, APS, has been posted as SSP, Golaghat.
Sanjib Kumar Saikia, APS, has been appointed Commandant of the 20th Assam Police Battalion at Panbari, while Jyoti Ranjan Nath, APS, will serve as Commandant of the 10th Assam Police Battalion at Kahilipara.
The notification also includes postings for several officers of the 2021 IPS batch.
Nitisha Sanjay Jagtap, IPS, has been posted as SSP, State Crime Records Bureau, CID, while Rajat Kumar Pal, IPS, has been appointed AIGP, AP, Dergaon.
Atul Kumar, IPS, has been posted as AIGP, Welfare, and Staff Officer to the Director General of Police. Mahato Amitkumar Sidhiprasad, IPS, has been appointed DCP, Border, Guwahati.
Aman Prakash Meena, IPS, has been posted as SSP, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Cell-C, while Desai Tushar Uttam, IPS, has been appointed SSP, Cyber Crime-II, CID.
The Home and Political Department said the transfers and postings were made in the interest of public service. The orders will take effect from the date the respective officers assume charge.
