Guwahati: The Indian National Congress released its fourth round of candidates for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections on Friday, March 20, naming nominees for seven constituencies.
As part of a seat-sharing plan, 11 seats have been allocated to its ally Raijor Dal.
The candidates include Bidisha Neog for Jalukbari, Rohit Pariga for Tangla, Jayanta Borah for Biswanath, Joy Prakash Das for Nowboicha (SC), Gyandip Mohan for Mahmora, Pran Kurmi for Titabor, and Rahul Roy for Hailakandi.
Under the alliance arrangement, Raijor Dal will contest from Manas, Dalgaon, Dhing, Kaliabor, Tezpur, Sissibargaon, Margherita, Digboi, Sivasagar, Mariani, and Bokakhat, several constituencies regarded as major political battlegrounds.
The announcement comes as parties accelerate preparations, with Congress and Raijor Dal aiming to unite anti-BJP votes and prevent splitting support in key areas.
Meanwhile, Raijor Dal has named Akhil Gogoi as its candidate for Sivasagar.
The party’s central election committee confirmed the decision in a notification dated March 20, 2026, assigning him to the 96 No. Sivasagar Legislative Assembly seat.
