The total COVID-19 case in Assam crossed the 40,000-mark on Friday after 1862 new cases were reported in the state in the last 24 hours.
In a tweet, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that a total of 38,324 tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, out of which 1862 patients have tested positive.

“The positivity rate of Assam stands at 4.85 per cent,” Sarma further added.

Of the total cases reported on Friday, 281 are from Kamrup (metro), 202 from Kamrup (Rural), 140 from Cachar, 129 from Sonitpur, 117 from Dibrugarh, 114 from Nagaon and 105 from Jorhat.
Meanwhile, a total of 1277 patients were discharged from various hospitals and COVID care centres in the state on Friday.

Assam’s overall COVID-19 tally rose to 40,269 with 9,811 active cases.
A total of 30,357 numbers of patients have recovered in the state so far.
Meanwhile, with the death of four more patients, Assam’s death tally rose to 98.
The deceased have been identified as Manik Saha (68) of Hojai, Minu Banik (30) of Kamrup Metro, Gopal Das (68) of Jorhat, and Bijay Sarkar (59) of Dibrugarh.
