In comparison to other countries across the globe, India is still in a very stable situation, in the battle against Covid-19, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Modi said this while addressing the nation at 4 pm on Tuesday.

Timely decisions and measures have played a great role, Modi said.

“We are entering Unlock 2.0 and the season of cough, fever and cold is also about to start. In such a situation, I urge countrymen to take care of themselves,” he said.

PM Modi mentioned that unlock 1 saw some people drop their guard.

“This is the time we need to be even more careful. Please don’t drop your guard,” Modi added.

He said 20 crore people have received 31,000 crore in their Jan Dhan Accounts under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.

The Prime Minister informed that the government is planning to bring ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’.

“We are planning to bring ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’. Now a ration card is also being arranged for the whole of India. The biggest benefit of this will be to those poor colleagues who leave their village and go elsewhere for employment or other needs,” announced Modi.

He said PMGYK will be extended till the end of November, extension to cost over Rs 90 thousand crore.

Modi hailed farmers and honest tax payers for their contribution in making the welfare scheme successful.

“Today, if the government is able to provide free food grains to the poor & the needy, the credit goes to two sections. First,  the hardworking farmers of our country and second, the honest taxpayers. I thank you from my heart,” he said.
