COVID19 Assam update

Assam has registered 48 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 1,561.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 update at midnight said the infected patients have been detected in Biswanath, West Karbi Anglong, Karimganj, Sivasagar, Hojai and Cachar districts.

The health minister said while 13 positive cases have been detected in Biswanath district, 9 positive cases have been detected in West Karbi Angling district and 5 persons have tested positive in Sivasagar district.

He also informed that 4 persons have tested positive in Hojai district and 8 persons have tested in Barak valley including 7 in Karimganj district and 1 in Cachar district.

The residential addresses of 9 other patients are yest to be ascertained.

“Alert ~ 48 new cases of #COVID19+. 13 Biswanath, 9 West KA, 7 Karimganj, 5 Sivasagar, 4 Hojai, 1 Cachar. 9 to ascertain,” health minister Sarma tweeted at 12.17 am on Wednesday.

With the new cases, the number of total active COVID19 cases stands at 1217.

Earlier, a total of 337 COVID19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across Assam after their recovery.

On Tuesday, a total of 53 COVID19 patients were discharged from the hospitals in Assam as their samples tested negative twice.

The deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of 4 persons while 3 cases migrated.

“Total cases 1561. Recovered 337. Active cases 1217. Deaths 04,” Sarma added.
