North Lakhimpur: Two migrant workers from Assamโs Lakhimpur district have been accused of killing a fellow Assamese worker in Telangana over a monetary dispute.
The accused, Bitopan Das and Kusheswar Das of Duarpar village under Panigaon police station, allegedly attacked Ghanshyam Borah of Rajabari in Gohpur, Biswanath district, during an altercation on August 15.
According to the victimโs family, Ghanshyam had a dispute with Kusheswar over the repayment of a debt that night. During the altercation, Bitopan allegedly attacked Ghanshyam with a sharp object, critically injuring him.
Ghanshyam was rushed to a local hospital in Telanganaโs Ranga Reddy district and shifted to Osmania Government Hospital in Hyderabad the following day for further treatment.
After battling his injuries for several days, Ghanshyam died at the hospital on August 24.
Ghanshyam, Bitopan and Kusheswar worked as security guards for the same company at Experium Park in Ranga Reddy district near Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, Ghanshyamโs mortal remains were brought to his native village under the Assam governmentโs Sradhanjali scheme.
An FIR is also being filed at Gohpur police station by Ghanshyamโs family against Bitopan and Kusheswar, who have reportedly gone absconding.
