Imphal: Chief Minister ย Yumnam Khemchand Singh called on the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at the Lok Bhavan on Friday evening, an official communiquรฉ stated.
The meeting focused on strengthening initiatives for the welfare and holistic development of the state. This was the Chief Ministerโs first meeting with the Governor after being sworn in.
Sources close to the Chief Minister said that the meeting also discussed the induction of the new Council of Ministers and the allocation of portfolios.
The Chief Minister is likely to visit the national capital within a day or two to hold discussions with central leaders, including the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
The Chief Minister will be accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Losii Dikho, a Naga leader, and Nemcha Kipgen, a Kuki woman leader, during his visit to New Delhi.
After Khemchandโs return from New Delhi, the seven vacant ministerial berths may be filled on February 23. The portfolios of all ministers may also be allocated on the same day, the sources added.
Notably, Yumnam Khemchand (Singjamei AC) was sworn in as the Chief Minister on February 4, along with Losii Dikho (Mao AC) and Nemcha Kipgen (Kangpokpi AC) as Deputy Chief Ministers.
Moreover, Govindas Konthoujam (Bishnupur AC) and Khuraijam Loken (Wangoi AC) were also sworn in as Cabinet Ministers on the same day. With five ministers already sworn in, seven ministerial berths remain vacant, as the stateโs Council of Ministers should have 12 members.
Moreover, the portfolios of the ministers already sworn in have not yet been allocated.
