The Manipur High Court has reportedly ordered the release of journalist Kishorechandra Wangkhem, who was arrested by the State Police under the National Security Act (NSA). 

Kishorechandra Wangkhem, a journalist of The Frontier Manipur, was arrested by the police under NSA for a Facebook post over the demise of then Manipur BJP president S Tikendra Singh due to COVID-19.

According to reports, a two-judge bench of the Manipur High Court comprising Chief Justice PV Sanjay Kumar and Justice Kh Nobin Singh ordered the release of Kishorechandra Wangkhem by 5 pm Friday. 

โ€œCow dung and cow urine doesnโ€™t work. Baseless argument. I will eat fish tomorrow,โ€ Kishorechandra had posted in his Facebook page after the demise of BJP leader S Tikendra Singh.

Earlier, Manipur activist Erendro Leichombam was released on Monday evening following the Supreme Courtโ€™s orders. 

He was released two months after he was detained under the NSA for his Facebook post criticizing BJP leaders for advocating cow dung and cow urine as a cure for Covid-19. 

Kishorechandra Wangkhem and Erendro Leichombam were arrested on the same day.
