Guwahati: The Kuki National Front (KNF) has denied allegations linking its Home Secretary Jangboi Kipgen and its cadres to the recent Langka incident in Manipurโs Kangpokpi district, in which two people were killed.
In a statement, the KNF said neither Kipgen nor any of its cadres had any involvement in the incident and described the allegations as โcompletely baseless, unfounded and devoid of truthโ.
The outfit alleged that vested interests were attempting to associate its leadership and cadres with the incident to create a โfalse narrativeโ and malign the organisation.
The KNF also accused unnamed groups of misusing its name for โpolitical or ulterior purposesโ through the circulation of unsubstantiated allegations, misinformation and propaganda.
โThe death of innocent people must never be used to settle scores, manufacture narratives, malign individuals or organisations, or create hostility between communities,โ the organisation said.
The outfit urged those making the allegations to refrain from repeating them, saying such claims could deepen mistrust and misunderstanding between communities and undermine public peace.
The KNF said allegations concerning the deaths should be based on facts and credible evidence rather than speculation or unverified claims.
It reiterated that Kipgen had no involvement in the Langka incident and that no KNF cadre was involved.
The statement comes amid ongoing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths in Langka. The KNF did not identify the individuals or groups it accused of linking its leadership and cadres to the incident.
