Imphal: Manipur Police destroyed over 39,000 kilograms of seized narcotics and psychotropic substances through incineration at the Shija Hospital Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility in Lamdeng on June 17, 2026.
The mass disposal drive was led by Inspector General of Police Worngam Ningshen to reinforce the stateโs anti-narcotics commitment.
Marking a milestone in its efforts to eliminate illegal drugs from the state, Manipur Police organised a Drug Disposal Programme on June 17, 2026, at the Shija Hospital Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility in Lamdeng, Imphal West district.
A total of 39,395 kg of seized narcotics, drugs, and psychotropic substances were incinerated.
The destroyed substances included 4.44 kg of heroin, 5.4 kg of brown sugar, 0.422 kg of WY (World Is Yours) tablets, 2.66 kg of serratiopeptidase (SP) tablets, and 26.50 kg of ganja.
The illegal items were confiscated during various operations conducted across the state over the past year.
The contraband, seized by district police, the Narcotics and Border Affairs (NAB), and other security agencies, was destroyed in the presence of Inspector General of Police (Zone II) Worngam Ningshen, IPS, along with other senior Manipur Police officials.
During the programme, IGP Ningshen outlined his vision for a drug-free Manipur. He commended the efforts and dedication of police personnel who remain at the forefront of the fight against drug trafficking and abuse, often at great personal risk.
He also appealed to the public to assist the authorities by providing actionable information about drug dealers and peddlers.
