Imphal: Senior IAS officer Rajeev Singh Thakur assumed charge as Manipur’s Chief Secretary on Tuesday, succeeding Puneet Kumar Goel, who retired from the post on August 31.
Thakur, a 1995-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed to the Manipur cadre following approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for his inter-cadre deputation. His ongoing central deputation has been curtailed following a proposal moved by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
As a special relaxation of existing norms, Thakur’s inter-cadre deputation will continue until June 30, 2029, the date of his superannuation.
His appointment comes as the Manipur administration continues efforts to restore peace and normalcy following prolonged ethnic strife in the state.
